CSAPickup Reminder Thursday May 9th and Friday May 10th

Posted 5/9/2019 8:23am by Jill Rendleman.

Members will enjoy fresh strawberries, mixed lettuce, radishes, carrots, and mint!  As we were sipping our mint juleps on Derby Day last Saturday, I thought.....o we should have included MINT this week!  Juleps are easy to make....fill a frosted glass with lots of ice....take a mint sprig and run it around the rim of the glass....add equal amounts of Kentucky bourbon and sugar water (just mix water and sugar to your taste or use white syrup)  crunch another mint stir, add a new mint sprig to the top.  Its a nice cool drink but dont think about going anywhere!   Mint is also nice just added to water each day......great for the stomach.  Understanding the importance of adding a variety of good organic  herbs to your foods and drink throughout the week will go a long ways in keeping your system detoxed regularly versus these once a year detoxes I read about.

With all the rain, the strawberries and carrots dont look all that great...but the garlic, apple trees, potatoes are all looking happy.  We are seeing the first little tomatoes forming after the flowers.  Zucchini is now planted as well as cucumbers.  Cant wait.  In the meantime......look for more greens and what root crops we can muster up.
